Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort has sent out his first tweets since December 19, 2016. In his posts, he first thanks President Trump for the pardon he was issued.
On December 23, President Trump issued pardons for a few important people, among them were his former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, and Roger Stone, Trump’s longtime political advisor.
Manafort’s first tweet read: “Mr. President, my family & I humbly thank you for the Presidential Pardon you bestowed on me. Words cannot fully convey how grateful we are.”

In his next tweet, Manafort continued to praise Trump for his leadership and actions taken as president, writing: “History will record that your Presidency accomplished more in 4 years than any of your modern-day predecessors.”

His final tweet was still a thank you for the president, wishing him well. “You truly did “Make America Great Again.” God Bless you & your family. I wish you a Merry Christmas & many good wishes for the coming years,” Manafort wrote.

Trump’s pardon frees Manafort from serving the rest of his 7 year prison sentence. He had been charged and found guilty of multiple counts of falsified income tax returns, failure to file reports of foreign bank accounts, and bank fraud, all of which were related to activities which took place before he joined the Trump campaign team.
Manafort was sentenced to seven years by a federal judge, but was released due to the COVID pandemic and sentenced to home confinement.
Many people believe that Manafort never would have been charged if he had not worked with President Trump, as Democrats and other officials were digging into the past of anyone associated with the president from the moment he won the Republican primaries in 2016.
Manafort has a long list of former employers, including former Presidents George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan.
