Governor Newsome had a great idea to make a splash in the Senate.
With the health of Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) clearly in question, Newsom wants a black woman to take her place.
The favorite to this point has been Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA).
It turns out, Newsom had one name above hers on his list.
Please, Oprah
There has long been a push to get Oprah Winfrey into politics.
As a matter of fact, when she was campaigning for Abrams in Georgia, it came up again.
Oprah, however, stated that she wanted nothing to do with that world.
With rumors flying again that Newsom would offer her the seat if Feinstein retires or dies before the end of her term, Oprah is again pushing back.
Oprah’s people shut that down right away, stating, “Oprah Winfrey is not considering the seat should it become vacant.”
Sorry, Gavin, looks like it is going to have to be Lee.
Either way, this is the same seat that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) will be running for, so he is hoping Feinstein can stay healthy enough to finish her term.
Schiff’s campaign would end the second a black woman took that seat because the left would consider him a racist if he primaried a black woman in his own party.
