Mayor Eric Adams of New York City is not happy right now.
New York put in for $1 billion in federal aid to help address the migrant issue in New York.
In addition to FEMA money, the administration granted Adams $8 million.
The Gravy Train
If you recall, Adams had made a deal with the mayor of El Paso to take migrants.
All told, the city has about 34,000 migrants that have been relocated to New York.
Of those, less than 5,000 were sent by Abbott, but that is not how this is all being painted by Adams.
The FEMA money was a pretty big payday for the city, getting a total of $75 million.
So, New York has now been paid $83 million.
On the problems in New York City, Adams stated that they needed, “hundreds of millions in additional federal funding to support asylum seekers,” adding that, “with over 800 people arriving in the past four days alone, it’s clear that we still need a comprehensive strategy at our border and additional resources.
“We cannot be put in a position where we have to choose between services for New Yorkers and supporting arriving asylum seekers.”
Suddenly, it sounds like Adams understands the need to have a controlled border.
He is whining about 800 a day that come in occasionally when El Paso is seeing about 1,500 per day, and Texas altogether is seeing about 7,000 per day right now.
Where is Texas’ money? Where are the national headlines covering what is happening in cities like El Paso that have been completely overrun?
