To honor the twentieth anniversary of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attack on New York City’s twin towers, over 200 U.S. Navy SEALs and their brother veterans completed a memorial swim all the way across the Hudson River.
SEALs still remember
A whole team of U.S. Navy SEALs, joined by other veterans, honored the memories of fallen comrades as the 20th anniversary of the horrible 9/11 tragedy approaches.
On Saturday, August 7, “at least 200 people participated in the event hosted by the non-profit GI Go Fund.”
Not only did the SEALs test their stamina by swimming across the river which averages more than half a mile wide, they also went the extra mile to honor other fallen veterans.

Push ups and pull ups too
As part of the swim memorial, participants “stopped twice throughout the event to do 100 push-ups in honor of the nation’s liberties. They also did 22 pull-ups each stop in recognition of the 22 veterans who commit suicide each day.”
As noted by the SEALs G1 Go Fund CFO Alex Manis, “It’s important that we remember the losses that many families and many people experienced.”
“It’s also important that we honor those who responded to the tragedy, who responded their nation’s call to service and especially those who did not make it home. We want to make sure that everybody knows that they’re never forgotten.”
