Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has once again proven us right.
He is about to give Joe Biden and the Democrats a huge win.
In the process, he will also strip away the one bit of leverage we have to get some meaningful concessions from Democrats.
Mitch and Joe… Buddies Forever
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is pushing very hard to get a budget passed before the GOP comes into power next month.
Senator McConnell appears ready to give him that win, all in the name of national security, of course.
After meeting with Schumer, McConnell stated, “We had a really good meeting. [We] laid out the challenges that we’re all collectively facing here. I think there’s widespread agreement that we’d be better off with an omnibus than a [continuing resolution], but there are some significant hurdles to get over to do that.
“For myself and I think the majority of my conference, defense and Ukraine” funding is “at the top of the list” of priorities.
So, let me ask you… how many people do you know that have funding Ukraine at the top of their list of priorities?
Do people realize that the United States has paid three times as much as all other countries combined so far during this war, and now they want to give them more?
I am all for funding our military, but what about not funding this new woke agenda that Secretary Austin is pushing on our troops?
There will be resistance to this in both the House and Senate.
For instance, Senator Scott (R-FL) stated, “I ran for Senate leader because the current plan of routinely caving in and allowing Schumer and Biden to win must stop and because we must become a party with a plan to rescue America.
“Everyone says compromise is crucial in Washington. That’s fine. But it’s about time we stop compromising our principles and start making the Democrats compromise theirs.”
Rep. McCarthy (R-CA), as expected, appears ready to let McConnell push him around, but other members of the House are already pushing back.
That will only matter, however, if we can get his budget delayed until next session.
This is it… this is the only leverage we have against Biden and they better use it.
