ICYMI – House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is getting a little something done.
McCarthy managed to get two bipartisan pieces of legislation passed through the House.
This will now force Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) hand in the Senate.
This is exactly what we wanted to see.
Forcing Their Hand
Both pieces of legislation were centered around the Chinese and both passed with about half of the Democrats in the House supporting the legislation.
The first piece will block Biden selling oil from our strategic reserve to the Chinese.
The second forms a committee to address U.S. strategic competition with China.
The chair of the new committee will be Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA).
She stated, “America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve is meant for true energy supply disruptions, like those caused by hurricanes and natural disasters, not to help China.
“Draining our strategic reserves for political purposes and selling portions of it to China is a significant threat to our national security.
“The administration is not just hurting our own ability to respond to emergencies and national security events, they are actively bolstering the oil reserves of our most dangerous geopolitical adversary: the Chinese Communist Party.”
