Now that Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) is in place, we expect him to deliver on a promise he made before the election.
McCarthy vowed to impeach Mayorkas if he did not resign.
Well, DHS Secretary Mayorkas has vowed NOT to resign, so let’s see if Kevin puts his money where his mouth is.
Time to Go
In November, McCarthy had stated, “If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate every order, every action and every failure will determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry.”
At the time, the DHS defended Mayorkas, stating, “Secretary Mayorkas is proud to advance the noble mission of this Department, support its extraordinary workforce, and serve the American people.
“The Department will continue our work to enforce our laws and secure our border, while building a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system.”
With Republicans now in charge of the House, Mayorkas was again asked if he anticipates resigning before the GOP comes after him.
He stated, “I do not.
“I’ve got a lot of work to do, and we’re going to do it.”
I would honestly prefer he not resign.
I want to see him in the hot seat when he is faced with stacks of evidence showing how rogue he has gone since taking office.
