While British citizens go to jail for Facebook posts and opposing radical Islam, the man who attacked Reform UK leader Nigel Farage will walk free.

The United Kingdom’s ongoing “two-tier justice” scandal was put on full display this week after the Barnsley Magistrates’ Court let 28-year-old Josh Greally walk free. Greally pled guilty to a public order offense, common assault, and causing criminal damage, all of which came after he threw wet cement on Farage while the Brexit leader was campaigning in Barnsley in June. While the court technically sentenced Greally to six weeks in prison, his sentence was suspended for 12 months, which means that he will likely never face prison time for the attack.

His actual sentence was appalling to any sane person who believes in justice — as Greally was only punished with 120 hours of community service, 20 days of so-called “rehabilitation,” and a fine of £85 in court costs with a surcharge of £154, according to GB News. Greally will also be required to pay the cleaning fees for Farage’s suit.
Farage responded to the news in a video posted to X, with the caption: “Throw cement at me, walk free.”
In the video, Farage stated: “But you see, in [UK Prime Minister] Keir Starmer’s Britain, if [he] put something intemperate on Facebook after a couple of glasses of wine, he would have gone to prison. And that’s the mess we’re in. Can you believe in the year to March, 147,000 people guilty of carrying knives, some have sexual offenses, have been given community orders, which means they don’t get criminal sentences. Our prisons are full. We’re letting people out who were violent offenders to put Facebook offenders, thought speech — some of it not very nice, I’ll accept — and to chuck them in prison for a short period of time. Law and order? Crime is out of control.”
He went on to point out that most British citizens “are increasingly concerned going out [on] an evening, walking around our streets, [and] catching public transport” because of rising crime — but these violent criminals are not receiving jail time, while people are being imprisoned for their speech.
“We have to build more prisons. We have to make those that are violent… those that threaten our society pay some kind of price. Without deterrence, this can only get worse,” Farage concluded.

Farage’s deputy, Reform UK Member of Parliament Richard Tice also responded to the news, writing: “Two-tier policing, two-tier justice. Shameful: should have been jailed for years.”

Brexit campaigner and Farage’s GB News colleague, Darren Grimes, also commented on the news, writing: “The greasy rat that launched cement at Nigel Farage on the Reform Party bus has received a suspended sentence and was ordered to pay for Farage’s suit-cleaning bill. He avoids jail, but there are people in prison that have committed Allah-blaspheme or posted on Facebook. So wrong.”

Despite being attacked several times and facing increasing threats, Farage has refused to stop campaigning in public, previously stating: “I will not surrender to the mob, I will not stop campaigning, this democratic process must continue.”
