Violent crime was able to properly hold the focus at Monday’s controversial field hearing in Manhattan, despite what the network media has to report. They were there only to cover the political drama, of which there was plenty. Meanwhile, C-SPAN – the media outlet Congress pays to cover all the dull and dusty congressional hearings for the public record – couldn’t spare the “resources” to cover the most interesting hearing on the docket.
Crime survivors speak out
The focus of the House Judiciary Committee’s field hearing was violent crime. New York City’s victims want to know how Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg can find so much time to manufacture crimes to railroad President Donald Trump with. Especially because he can’t be bothered to put local criminals in jail where they belong.
The Democrats wanted a circus, and they got one. Manhattan is the district of the guy with “clown shoes” on all the memes. Just mentioning the name Jerold Nadler brings chuckles. He made sure to get his liberal talking points on record, before they were overwhelmed by the facts.
Madeline Brame was there to talk about crime. At the hearing held Monday, April 17, she testified to the Judiciary Committee all about “her son’s murder and the years-long court battle that followed.” She wasn’t a satisfied customer of the Big Apple’s justice system. “Me, my family and my grandchildren, we were treated like garbage and I’m not the only one,” she said. “There are hundreds and thousands of us. We don’t give a damn about your politics. We don’t care. It could be the man on the moon who’s running for president.”

Brame “blasted both Bragg’s handling of the case and the larger New York judicial system, saying millions of taxpayer dollars were being wasted.” Her son was stabbed to death in 2018, his attack was filmed. After a four year case, Bragg let a female suspect totally off the hook, despite the video evidence. “Bragg’s office was unable to prove that Saunders had knowingly assisted Correa’s murder.” Another of the four got seriously reduced charges.
The big problem with crime is there isn’t any “deterrent.” Bragg, she insists, has left “all types of criminal elements free to do what they want, when they want, however they want, to whomever they want with no consequences–no deterrence.” She’s not happy that “Millions and billions of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars are going to fund organizations that are doing absolutely nothing to deter this crime.” She want’s him defunded.
“I propose that not another dime of our federal tax dollars be pumped into [soft policing organizations] until they can produce measurable outcomes of the effectiveness of what they are doing with our tax dollars.” Not only that, “if he is receiving one penny of federal dollars, you need to pull that funding until he starts doing his damn job and prosecuting crime.”
Nadler slammed by victim
Another witness who took the stand, Barry Borgen, was thrilled that His representative was there at the hearing. He gave Jerrold Nadler an earful. The crime he was there to testify about involved an “anti-Semitic assault in Times Square two years ago.” He was furious that “Mr. Bragg’s office offered a cushy plea deal to one of the accused attackers.” He also “excoriated Mr. Nadler and Sen. Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat,” Washington Times writes.
“You’re a Jewish New Yorker, I called your office. There was no response,” he thundered at Nadler. “I called Mr. Schumer’s office, another Jewish New Yorker. No response. No one called us back. You have Jewish roots here and behavior like this enables D.A. Bragg to do whatever he wants to do.”
The crowd on hand was definitely not on Bragg’s side, other than the protesters, some of whom appeared to be professionally organized. From the gallery, crime victims’ advocates “heckled the Democratic lawmakers during their remarks.”

One individual “stood up and called the Democratic members ‘scumbags.’” They’re fed up with Bragg’s “pro-crime, anti-victim politics.”
Bragg was mobbed by reporters on his way to work nearby but managed to ignore their questions. There is only one crime that concerns him. That’s the one he cooked up hoping to prevent Donald Trump from running again.
What he did will likely have the exact opposite effect. As the committee conducts their hearing into the real effects of violent crime, which is out of control thanks to liberal prosecution policies, Trump is raising campaign cash by the millions.
