The Biden administration just pulled off an epic land grab that has Republicans, and some Democrats, steaming.
The administration has pulled more than $15 million acres of land and sea off the grid for domestic drilling.
This is going to crush Alaska economically, with the people who helped put Biden in office on both sides of the aisle now losing their minds.
The Land Grab
The land grab and lease cancelations by the Biden administration were announced by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.
Haaland, who received an affirmative vote during her Senate confirmation by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), by the way, stated, “With climate change warming the Arctic more than twice as fast as the rest of the planet, we must do everything within our control to meet the highest standards of care to protect this fragile ecosystem.”
Haaland canceled seven leases that had been issued in 2021 for 365,000 acres in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
Additionally, 13 million acres in the National Petroleum Reserve (NPR) have been closed to drilling.
Another 2.8 million acres have been closed off in the Beaufort Sea off the northern coast of Alaska.
Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) were among the Democrats pushing back on these moves by the Biden administration.
They have no right to complain, however, because they, along with Murkowski, all helped put Biden in office.
It is just a shame that the entire country will now have to pay more for their energy because of these morons.
