The latest incoherent attack on the Second Amendment from Joe Biden has drawn a ton of criticism from the right, especially because police data proves that he’s completely wrong.
Biden and the Democrats have tried to connect legal gun ownership to a rise in violent crime, but data proves there is no correlation.
In 2020, the San Francisco Bay Area reported a 35 percent increase in violent crime, while shootings and murders increased by 45 percent in New York, and by 50 percent in Chicago. What do these three areas have in common? They are run by Democrats, and have some of the strictest gun control laws in the United States. Clearly, those laws aren’t working, and are likely having the opposite effect: people in these areas have nothing to use to defend themselves from violent criminals.
Compare those statistics to Republican-controlled Miami, Florida, which has seen only a 13 percent increase in violent crime, or GOP-led Oklahoma City, where violent crime has decreased by 11 percent.
Of course, the majority of gun crime is committed using illegally obtained weapons, but Democrats don’t talk about that. Just like the left apparently can’t tell the difference between illegal immigrants and legal immigrants, they don’t know the difference between illegal guns and legal guns.
One America News reports: “Overall, violent crime rose an average 35 percent nationwide, which was mostly driven by the influx of illegal firearms through the U.S.-Mexico border.”
Instead of focusing on the crime problem by arresting and convicting more criminals, or instituting policies that crack down on illegal guns and prevent them from being trafficked across the border, Joe Biden and the Democrats want to take away guns from law-abiding Americans.
Republican Representative Mo Brooks said it best: “Joe Biden’s speech today shows he does not understand the causes of violent crime. He demonstrates it every time he proposes gun control measures to combat crime in cities that have neutered their police forces. News flash for you, Joe… criminals don’t follow gun laws.”
