The MAGA world loves Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), but that was not always the case.

When Vance first hit the political scene, it was more as a commentator, and he was not exactly nice to Trump.

His opinion has obviously changed, but will those previous comments keep him out of the running for Trump’s VP?

Never Trump to Always Trump

Vance first hit the political scene in 2016 after he published “Hillbilly Elegy.”

Believe it or not, for a hot minute, there was talk of him running for president.

Instead, Vance started doing the media circuit, even signing on as a political contributor for CNN at one point.

It was during those days that Vance claimed he was a “Never Trumper” and called Trump an “idiot.”

When Vance did finally decide to run for office, it was for the Senate in 2021, so he reached out to Trump to make peace.

The next thing you know, Trump is endorsing Vance, saying that Vance told him he was wrong about him and that he wanted to help Trump push his MAGA agenda.

Vance wound up winning, one of the few big battleground endorsements made by Trump that won a seat.

Vance is now believed to be on Trump’s short list for VPs, but those comments are still haunting him.

Trump to put all that behind him, Vance confessed, “But, look, my view on Donald Trump — I have been very clear on this — is, look, I was wrong about him.

“I didn’t think he was going to be a good president, Dana, and I was very, very proud to be proven wrong. It’s one of the reasons why I’m working so hard to get him elected.”

I don’t think Vance will ever be able to distance himself from those comments if he is selected as VP, and the GOP knows those comments would be made into ads, so I doubt Vance will get the nod.

Having said that, if Trump wins and I were Vance, I would feel pretty confident that a high-profile post would be coming my way.
