Ivanka Knoll, a Croatian model who has become an Instagram sensation, made headlines for her daring outfits at Croatia’s group matches at the World Cup.
Netizens have been polarized by her skimpy clothing choices, while some locals claim that she is doing nothing wrong and even deserves a medal of freedom for risking her life in Qatar.
While there are rules and regulations concerning modesty and clothing that were supposedly given to team officials by the Qatari government, Ivana didn’t seem to get them.
Qatar is known for its strict laws when it comes to clothing, specifically requiring that women cover their heads and shoulders as well as avoid wearing low-cut tops or short skirts.
Despite these rules however, Ivana showed up to Al-Bayt Stadium wearing a body contour outfit with a red and white checkerboard pattern which revealed quite a bit of cleavage.
It appears though that authorities haven’t taken any action against her despite this breach of local law.
She was also seen posing for photos with fans outside the stadium before the Morocco-Croatia match (0-0 draw).
Ivanka’s outfit choices may be causing controversy but many people believe she should be commended instead of condemned.
In fact, during an interview with The Sun newspaper after arriving on scene in Doha she openly called the World Cup “a disaster” which only added fuel to the fire.
Despite this though many still admire her bravery for standing up to what is expected of women in Qatar by ignoring those rules.
In addition, if we are talking about freedom then it seems pretty counterintuitive to deny someone theirs just because you don’t agree with what they are wearing.
