Well, it’s official.
One of the biggest problems in the Republican Party has decided that he will run for re-election.
Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), even though his constituents want him to resign, has filed for re-election.
Coming Back
There are only a handful of people in office that have befriended Santos.
The man’s entire resume is a lie.
Not only that, he is being investigated for several different scams, one including a charity.
The House Ethics Committee filing stated that he had failed “to properly disclose required information on statements filed with the House,” violating “federal conflict of interest laws in connection with his role at a firm providing fiduciary services,” “and/or engaged in sexual misconduct towards an individual seeking employment in his congressional office.”
After the investigation was opened, Santos’ office stated, “The House Committee on Ethics has opened an investigation, and Congressman George Santos is fully cooperating.
“There will be no further comment made at this time.”
House Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) has stated that he wants to wait until the investigations play out before making a decision on what to do about Santos.
He has voluntarily removed himself from committees, thankfully.
The problem if he runs is that he is going to force the GOP to primary him to remove him from office, which is more money that has to be spent that could be used elsewhere.
Additionally, while his win was considered a huge upset and massive coup for the GOP, he has probably ruined it for Republicans for years to come.
