Gov Signs Bill Ensuring Students Use Bathrooms Aligning With Biology

Gov Signs Bill That Has Liberals FURIOUS

Another red state governor has stepped in to protect children from the dangers of gender ideology, requiring all schools to ensure that bathrooms, locker rooms, and overnight accommodations are divided based on biological sex, not made-up gender ideology.

On Tuesday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) signed legislation that prohibits so-called “transgender” individuals from using bathrooms and locker rooms that do not match their biology, joining more than a dozen other states that have signed similar bills. Ohio’s GOP-controlled Senate approved the measure earlier this month, despite the Democrats being unanimous in their opposition to protecting students.

The law, which will take effect in 90 days, forces all public and private K-12 schools, as well as colleges and universities, to ensure that all restrooms, locker rooms, and overnight accommodations will be divided on the basis of biological sex, not “gender identity.” All schools are also banned from building multi-person “all-gender” facilities, although they are still allowed to have non-gendered single-person restrooms.

Republican state lawmakers celebrated the bill, with the measure’s sponsors thanking DeWine on social media for signing it into law.

“Thank you @GovMikeDeWine for signing the bill yesterday that contains HB 183,” state Rep. Adam Bird (R) wrote in a post on X. “[Beth Lear] and I have been working on this bill for over a year and we are thankful that individuals will not have to worry about the opposite sex coming into the restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms.”

Ohio state Rep. Beth Lear (R) responded to the post, writing: “Yes, thank you @GovMikeDeWine for signing SB 104 to protect ALL students.”

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost (R) also thanked DeWine “for siding with biology, history safety and common sense.”

Meanwhile, the left is having a meltdown over Ohio’s decision to protect women’s spaces, with the ironically named American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio complaining in a post on X about supposed discrimination against men pretending to be women who want to use women’s bathrooms.

“Transgender people are part of the fabric of Ohio; our families, our workplaces, and our neighborhoods. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and are closely considering next steps,” they whined.

This news comes after several other victories for common sense in Ohio, including a ban on dangerous and irreversible transgender procedures for children and a ban on boys competing on girls’ sports teams. DeWine shockingly vetoed both of those bills, but his veto was overridden by the state legislature in January 2024.
