The GOP finally has some leverage in Congress.
Better yet, they actually appear to be using it for a worthwhile cause.
Republicans are leveraging the defense budget to have the vaccination mandate removed from our troops.
Smart Move
The fact military members are still being required to get this vaccine is utterly ridiculous.
We know the virus mostly impacts those with underlying conditions, the “at risk” group.
Younger people, especially those in great shape, are only experiencing minimal symptoms and usually recover very quickly.
There is the added issue of how this mandate has impacted our military readiness to the point it is starting to be a national security concern.
Recruitment and retainment have become a major issue, so much so that the Navy recently announced it would be lowering its standards of acceptance for sailors.
So, instead of lifting the mandate, this administration wants to start letting a bunch of blockheads into the ranks.
Biden is not happy he is getting pushback on this.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby stated, “We continue to believe that repealing the vaccine mandate is a mistake.
“Making sure our troops are ready to defend this country and prepared to do so, that remains the president’s priority and the vaccine requirement for Covid does just that.
“But Republicans in Congress have obviously decided that they’d rather fight against the health and well-being of those troops, rather than protecting them.
“So we still believe it’s a mistake.”
Sorry, Kirby, but you lose.
