Former Secret Service Agent turned Fox News host Dan Bongino got into a confrontation with a Black Lives Matter co-founder, and things quickly turned ugly.
Bongino, host of the Fox News show Unfiltered, confronted Hawk Newsome, co-founder of BLM for the greater New York City area, about the rioting and violence linked to his terrorist group, as well as Newsome’s recent threats of more riots and violence.
In a discussion on Bongino’s show, the host began the segment by playing a video clip of Newsome’s threat, which came from the BLM leader speaking to reporters about newly proposed police reforms. Former NYPD police captain and current Mayor-elect of New York City Eric Adams made fighting the rise in crime a key part of his campaign, and that has angered members of the Black Lives Matter movement.
“If they think that they’re going to go back to the old ways of policing, then we’re going to take to the streets again,” Newsome said in the video clip, referring to the violent riots that took place in 2020. “There will be riots, there will be fires and there will be bloodshed.”
Bringing in Newsome as his guest, Bongino, who is a former NYPD cop and Secret Service agent, started with an important question.
“Do you condemn riots and burning down buildings after a police use-of-force incident you don’t like?” he asked.
“No. What I’ll say is, I understand when a police officer unjustifiably kills someone, why people lash out. I understand that completely,” Newsome replied.
“I’m not going to condemn, nor am I going to condone it,” he added.
Obviously, Bongino wasn’t satisfied with that answer.
“Isn’t that cowardly?” the Fox News host asked. “‘I’m not going to condemn it, but I’m not going to condone it — so I don’t want to take a stand’? … You seem to talk a lot of junk and then when I put you on the spot you won’t answer a damn question. Do you condone violence or you condemn violence? You’re all over the place. Just condemn violence and burning of buildings down. How hard is it?”
Of course, rather than answering the question, Newsome tried to claim that Bongino was not allowing him to speak. Then, he tried to compare the BLM protests to the response of the U.S. government after 9/11.
“OK, so when Usama bin Laden attacked the World Trade Center, did you say America should deal with it peacefully?” Newsome asked.
“You’re not answering the question, man,” Bongino said. “That has nothing to do with people burning down businesses in New York City. You’re not gonna answer the question, Hawk.”
“OK, I’ll give you this,” Newsome responded. “I don’t condone it, I don’t promote it, but I will not condemn it.”
“Man, that’s just cowardly. That’s just cowardly,” Bongino replied.
“You’re trying to bait me,” Newsome said, before removing his audio wire and ending the interview.
This is common with the left. They either try to turn the argument around, call people names, or just run away and avoid the difficult conversations. Newsome openly threatened violence, then tried to take the cowardly route by not saying he supports violence, but refusing to oppose it. Of course, the threats will go unpunished, because the left controls New York City and supports BLM.
