On Monday night, former US President Donald Trump confirmed that he would turn himself in at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta on Thursday.

This comes after he and 18 co-defendants were charged with attempting to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election.

He is now facing a $200,000 bail and an order not to send threatening social media messages.

The booking will take place the day after the first Republican primary debate which Trump has said he will not attend.

His legal team was spotted entering District Attorney Fani Willis’ office as Sheriff’s deputies stepped up security around the run-down jailhouse.

It is expected that defendants in this sprawling case will negotiate terms of their release before being booked at the county jail and appearing in court to enter a plea.

Trump is claiming that these charges are part of an effort from Radical Left District Attorney Fani Willis to derail his own 2024 election campaign and, in turn, fundraise for her own election.

On social media, he wrote “She campaigned, and is continuing to campaign, and raise money on this WITCH HUNT…It is all about ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”

He has accused Willis of targeting him in coordination with Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ).

Authorities have made it clear that Trump can expect no special treatment during his booking process.

They say he will have to be fingerprinted like other suspects at the notorious jail where conditions are reportedly squalid with insect infestations.

The U.S Attorney Ryan K Buchanan launched an investigation into these allegations last month saying “The recent allegations of filthy housing teeming with insects, rampant violence resulting in death and injuries, and officers using excessive force are cause for grave concern”.
