There are some rumors flying that could create problems for Democrats in their effort to hold onto the Senate in 2024.
They have already been hit with two retirements, but those seats should be relatively safe.
However, there are now whispers of five more Senators retiring, three of them in seats that would be very much up for grabs.
Time to Go?
West Virginia’s Joe Manchin is one that is really interesting.
He has been having a bit of a feud since he got screwed over on an amendment that was removed that would have given West Virginia a pipeline.
He is not polling well right now, and a Republican could snag this seat even if he does not retire.
Wisconsin’s Tammy Baldwin is in a similar situation.
Elections in Wisconsin are always close, but the state seems to have had enough with the woke, so, like West Virginia, even if she runs, this seat could be flipped.
Bob Casey in Pennsylvania is having medical issues, having just been diagnosed with cancer.
The state is an enigma, however, but the seat would clearly be contested by Republicans.
Republicans do not need to win all of those seats. One would be good, two could flip the Senate, and three would all but assuredly turn the Senate back over to Republicans.
There are other seats, however, that will be fought for and possibly flipped. Basically, Dems are in the same boat that Republicans were in during the 2022 election.
