The San Francisco Department of Public Health has hired a morbidly obese “fat activist” to serve as “weight stigma” czar.
Rather than trying to make its citizens healthier, San Francisco has decided to push the radical and dangerous narrative that being fat is fine. The city has shockingly decided to hire one of its most unhealthy citizens to work at the Department of Public Health.
The so-called “fat activist,” Virgie Tovar, is a “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) professional and the author of the book “You Have the Right to Remain Fat.” She announced her new position in a Monday post on her Instagram account.
“I’m UNBELIEVABLY proud to serve the city I’ve called home for almost 20 years in this way!” Tovar wrote. “This consultancy is an absolute dream come true, and it’s my biggest hope and belief that weight neutrality will be the future of public health.”

According to her website, she has described herself as a “leading expert on weight-based discrimination and body positivity with over a decade of experience.”
“Virgie’s corporate trainings focus on creating a non-judgmental environment where professionals can build awareness, vocabulary and best practices aimed at decreasing occupational weight-based discrimination,” the DEI section of Tovar’s website states. “She combines her academic background, professional expertise and personal lived experience to design virtual and in-person experiences that open up curiosity, empathy, and empowerment.”
Tovar’s former clients include “the Seattle Transit Agency, UC Berkeley, Everybody Gym, and affinity spaces within Square and Waymo,” her website reads. She also worked with Dove on “fat liberation” issues.
The radical “fat activist” has spoken out against so-called “diet culture” — claiming that obese people don’t need to eat healthy or lose weight. She is also against the use of Ozempic for weight loss and believes that “no one has to be healthy.”
“No one has to be healthy,” Tovar claimed on a podcast. “Nobody owes anybody that.”

“No matter what size you are, you don’t owe anybody else your health. In an ideal world, there wouldn’t be health-based gatekeeping at all,” she added after comparing being disabled to being obese — despite the fact that being obese is a choice, while being disabled is not.
She has also argued that asking for a smaller piece of cake is “oppression.”
