The saying of “if Democrats didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all,” seems to become truer every day. A Democrat mayor perfectly embodied this saying perfectly.
Denver Mayor Caught Red Handed
Democrat Mayor Michael Hancock of Denver, Colorado told citizens not to travel just minutes before he boarded a flight to visit family for Thanksgiving. Governor Jared Polis and the mayor have locked down Colorado residents and have crippled the economy with tyrannical COVID restrictions.
As he was in the airport waiting to board his flight, Mayor Hancock had the audacity to tweet:
“Pass the potato, not COVID. Stay home as much as you can, especially if you’re sick. Host virtual gatherings instead of in-person dinners. Avoid travel, if you can. Order your holiday meal from a local eatery. Shop online with a small business for #BlackFriday.” The statements were accompanied by an image that went into greater detail on each precaution, such as “only socialize in person with people you live with” under “host virtual gatherings.”

Hypocrisy Overload
What his post didn’t explain is that he typed this while sitting in an airport 30 minutes before he took off on a flight to Houston. This enraged not only Republicans, but COVID weary Democrats did not take this too well either.
Mayor Hancock sent an email on November 18 to city staff stating, “as the holidays approach, we all long to be with our families in person, but with the continued rise in cases, I’m urging you to refrain from travel this Thanksgiving holiday. For my family that means canceling our traditional gathering of our extended family.”
Fake Apology Not Helping
He tried to calm things down by issuing an “apology” but his insincere hypocrisy only seemed to make matters worse.
“I fully acknowledge that I have urged everyone to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel I have shared how my family canceled our plans for our traditional multi-household Thanksgiving celebration. What I did not share, but should have, is that my wife and my daughter have been in Mississippi, where my daughter recently took a job, As the holiday approached, I decided it would be safer for me to travel to see them than to have two family members travel back to Denver.
…As a public official, whose conduct is rightly scrutinized for the message it sends to others, I apologize to the residents of Denver who see my decision as conflicting with the guidance to stay at home for all but essential travel. I made my decision as a husband and father, and for those who are angry and disappointed, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions that are borne of my heart and not my head.”
The Denver mayor is just another in a long line of other Democrat politicians who hypocritically broke their own COVID orders… Governors Newsom and Cuomo and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to just name a few.
