LaToya Cantrell thought she could live the high life on the taxpayer dime.
For some reason, even though she is the mayor of New Orleans and gets a city paycheck, she did not feel as though she was classified as a city employee.
Therefore, she did not have to repay the city the almost $30,000 in travel charges she had racked up.
The city auditor disagreed, and now her bank account is about to take a serious hit.
Pay Up
Cantrell maintained that she was on city business and does her job, so no, she would not be paying up.
I would love to know what city business the mayor of New Orleans has in Switzerland, where her flight upgrade accounted for $9,800 of her bill.
She also took a first-class trip to France in July for $17,000.
The remainder of the bill was for a first-class trip to Miami in June, for $2,800.
She was not very happy about the review decision…
Now if we can get her to start paying rent on the posh city apartment, she is living in.
