Catholics thought they had a big win, but it became a slap-in-the-face loss.
The LA Dodgers invited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to its Pride Night event.
After Catholic groups expressed outrage over the drag queen group’s invite, the Dodgers pulled the invite.
We Want You Back
All it took was a little pressure from LA Pride and the Dodgers folded again.
The team reinvited the Sisters back after the local group threatened to boycott the event.
The team stated, “After much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities, honest conversations within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Los Angeles Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their friends and families.
“We have asked the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to take their place on the field at our 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night on June 16th.
“We are pleased to share that they have agreed to receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.
“In the weeks ahead, we will continue to work with our LGBTQ+ partners to better educate ourselves, find ways to strengthen the ties that bind and use our platform to support all of our fans who make up the diversity of the Dodgers family.”
Catholics are livid at the snub.
While this group does raise money for charity for its community, it also mocks Catholic nuns on a regular basis.
They may say all the right things in front of the camera, but all you need to do is watch them in action to know this is not a salute to nuns, as they claim.
So, once again, a sports team caves to a miniscule demographic that likely does not support the team on a regular basis.
The question is, will fans make them pay for will they eventually return?
