CNN is Closing The Doors

CNN has made the long awaited decision to close it’s doors and move out of its main hub in Atlanta.

The news network will be closing the CNN Center by the end of 2023 and moving just a few miles north to the Warner Bros. Discovery’s Techwood Turner Broadcasting campus.

This campus is well-known for being the home to various other cable network departments, such as TNT, Cartoon Network, and truTV, to name a few.

The removal of the CNN logo that tops the building and has been a fixture among the Atlanta skyline is quite upsetting to some.

Former CNN President Tom Johnson stated that he is “heartbroken” by the news.

He continued, saying “So many of my friends tell me how they’re going to miss that wonderful CNN logo on top of CNN Center. It just meant so much to us.”

Back in 2021, AT&T sold the building for $164 million to CP Group and Rialto Capital Management to reduce costs.

Despite the large majority of CNN’s programming coming from both New York and Washington D.C., the Atlanta location held a massive behind-the-scenes presence.

So far, CNN has transferred it master control operations to the new location.

In addition to the big move, CNN has announced that daily programming changes will be made, such that anchors will spend more time travelling around the studio instead of sitting at a desk.
