While driving north of Minneapolis, a woman accidentally struck a deer with her car.
Little did she know that the impact would not only cause extensive damage, but her vehicle also burst into flames, according to authorities.
The Isanti Sheriff’s Office revealed that the collision occurred just before 7:10 a.m. about 10 miles north of St. Francis on Highway 47.
Sheriff’s Capt. John Elder shared with the Star-Tribune of Minneapolis that the driver and her dog escaped the accident unharmed.
However, the deer was not so lucky, as it died following the impact from the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office shared details on the incident via a Facebook post.
Apparently the Minneapolis woman was traveling south on Highway 47 when the eight-point buck jumped right in front of her car.
According to the sheriff’s office, multiple witnesses helped the woman remove belongings from the vehicle shortly before it was fully engulfed in flames.
Following the crash, the highway was shut down for a period of time before being reopened.
