On Wednesday, November 8, the United States military launched an airstrike against a facility located in eastern Syria, which was being used by Iranian-backed militia groups. This attack comes after weeks of growing attacks on U.S.-based military bases.

The Pentagon confirmed that two F-15 fighter jets were involved in the strike against a weapons storage facility associated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard forces.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin issued a statement declaring that this action had been taken “to make clear that the United States will defend itself, its personnel and its interests”.

This is now the second time within two weeks that American forces have targeted facilities belonging to militant groups connected with Iraq’s Islamic Resistance movement, entities which have allegedly been responsible for approximately forty attacks in the region since October 17th.

The Times of Israel reported:

“US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announces that two American F-15s conducted a strike on a weapons storage facility used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups in eastern Syria in response to another spate of attacks against US personnel in Iraq and Syria by the IRGC and other Iran-backed forces.

“The United States is fully prepared to take further necessary measures to protect our people and our facilities. We urge against any escalation. US personnel will continue to conduct counter-ISIS missions in Iraq and Syria,” Austin says in a statement.

This is the second time since the outbreak of the war that the US has announced having carried out such strikes.”

This is a developing story.
