News reports have revealed that an 18-inch pipe bomb was discovered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania just this Sunday afternoon, February 19.

This is a breaking story, with new details and updates continuing to come in.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, a passerby found the PVC pipe bomb near the Conrail train tracks just behind St. Dominic’s Catholic Church at around 1:40 p.m.

The pipe appeared to have capped ends and black powder on it.

Local authorities shut down the surrounding streets and area while bomb squad members worked to carefully remove the bomb and transport it back to police headquarters.

An investigation into the pipe bomb and the scene have been launched by authorities.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the pipe bomb.

St. Dominic’s nearby where the bomb was discovered has not responded to any requests for comment on the incident.

This news comes just one day after Auxiliary Bishop of the Los Angeles David O’Connell was shot and killed in his Los Angeles home on February 18.

According to The Daily Wire, O’Connell’s death is currently being handled as a murder investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department.
