Breaking News: MASSIVE Explosion, Crews on the Scene

After sheriffs received a call at 6:40 a.m. on February 23, multiple fire departments and a hazmat crew were sent to the scene of a collision between an 18-wheeler and a train, which caused a huge fire.

In Milam County, Texas, a train carrying liquid petroleum was hit by an 18-wheeler, causing what appeared to be a massive explosion. Amazingly, no one was injured in the collision, as both the train conductor and the driver of the 18-wheeler escaped their vehicles without injury. Milam County Sheriff Chris White has announced that the fire was not a hazmat situation.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the 18-wheeler collided with the side of the train, which deflected the 18-wheeler.

Local News Outlet KXXV reported that “AMR, DPS, Rosebud fire, Cameron volunteer fire department, Hearne fire department was on the scene. Temple Fire Department along with BNSF have crews coming from Houston and Dallas today to help extinguish the fire out with foam.”

All homes in the immediate area were evacuated, as officials had to let the fire burn a while before they could put it out. One home was burned down, but no one was injured.

Officials also noted that a sulfuric acid tank was on board the train, but was untouched in the accident.

“The major threat is over,” Sheriff White said.
