Lori Lightfoot just got some major news…and it’s not good. Well, at least for her.

Just this evening on February 28, Democrat mayor of Chicago Lori Lightfoot was defeated in the Chicago mayor runoff campaign.

An outspoken opponent of Lightfoot during her three-year long mayoral leadership, Paul Vallas, has received almost twice as many votes as Lightfoot.

Vallas earned nearly 35% of votes while Lightfoot earned 16%.

Vallas is now expected to advance with Brandon Johnson, who earned 20% of votes, to the April 4 runoff election for Chicago mayor.

In the past, Lightfoot would criticize Vallas for his conservative views, as he called for more police presence within the city and compared Lightfoot’s COVID vaccine mandate for workers to the Holocaust.

Originally elected back in 2019, Lightfoot became the first openly gay Black woman to serve as the mayor of Chicago.

Lightfoot is known for being a far-left progressive and many ridiculed her for her anti-police rhetoric, intense COVID restrictions as well as being pro gun control.

Despite Paul Vallas being a member of the Democrat party, his viewpoints could likely lead him to victory in the upcoming election.
