There was one benefit to Biden’s recent infrastructure bill that had more fat on it than my morning bacon.

Thanks to Senator Daines (R-MT) and Senator Jim Risch (R-ID), a nice little report was part of that legislation.

The DOE was forced to issue a complete report on the economic impact of the Keystone XL Pipeline being canceled.

More Lies

So, I am going to work backwards here.

When the DOE was asked to comment on the report, it stated, “The U.S. Department of Energy released a report evaluating existing analysis on economic and job effects of the XL portion of Keystone pipeline.

“It concluded there were limited job impacts, with approximately 50 permanent jobs estimated to have been created were the pipeline operational.”

We knew that once the pipeline was up and running, the permanent jobs were not, relatively speaking, significant, but the impact on that end was energy independence.

The real meat of this project was during the construction phase, where a 2014 report found that roughly 20,000 jobs, including ancillary jobs, would be created.

Well, the new DOE report shows just how off those old numbers were.

Had this project gone forward, there could have been as many as 59,000 jobs created and a massive $9.6 billion positive impact on the economy.

That is what Joe Biden tossed in the trash to pacify the far left.

Senator Daines pounced, stating, “The Biden administration finally owned up to what we have known all along — killing the Keystone XL Pipeline cost good-paying jobs, hurt Montana’s economy and was the first step in the Biden administration’s war on oil and gas production in the United States.

“Unfortunately, the administration continues to pursue energy production anywhere but the United States.”

He continued, “These policies may appeal to the woke left but hurt Montana’s working families.

“I’ll keep fighting back against Biden’s anti-energy agenda and supporting Montana energy projects and jobs.”
