Video footage was released showing Ashli Babbitt physically striking one of the rioters in an attempt to stop the escalating violence in the Capitol building on January 6th, 2021, just seconds before she was murdered by a Capitol police officer.

Ashli’s husband, Aaron Babbitt of San Diego, said in a statement to The Epoch Times that the video provides crucial details on what happened to his wife leading up to her death.

“As we keep seeing these videos and it’s all coming into play and it’s literally laying out everything I’ve said from day one, that she’s a good person, that she loved this country, she was law enforcement, pro-law enforcement, wasn’t breaking anything, didn’t hurt anybody—we’re seeing it now,” Babbitt said.

“We’re going to get to the bottom of it. We’re going to get it out there,” he added.

This footage is yet another blow to the Democrat media’s narrative that Ashli Babbitt was just another angry insurrectionist rioter.

Other released video already began to break that narrative, showing her begging the rioters to stop vandalizing the Capitol, and yelling at police officers for not doing their jobs, imploring them to call for backup.

One rioter in particular, Zachary Alam, is the focus of this entire incident. Alam in seen in several videos near Babbitt, and each time it is obvious that he is one of the instigators of the violence and vandalism.

Video shot by Sam Montoya for InfoWars shows Alam repeatedly smashing the glass on one of the doors and the window to the right of the doors to the Speaker’s Lobby. Babbitt can be heard shouting at him, “Stop it!”

Ignoring her, he continued. The entire pane of glass soon fell forward into the Speaker’s Lobby, and then Alam turned his attention to the side window, causing the glass to fall into the lobby as well.

Apparently giving up on attempts to dissuade him from his actions, and her attempts to get the police to do their jobs, new footage shows Babbitt stepping toward the corner, grabbing Alam by his backpack, and delivering a killer left hook directly to his nose, which knocked his glasses off.

As Alam fumbled to put his glasses back on, Babbitt climbed into the window, where she was shot and killed by Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd. She then fell backward onto the floor, mortally wounded. Alam turned around, saw her on the floor, flinched, and ran off camera.

According to The Epoch Times, “The .40-caliber bullet fired from Byrd’s Glock 22 pistol struck Babbitt in the left shoulder and ricocheted to her right shoulder, causing massive internal damage.”

Babbitt’s punch not only stopped Alam from continuing his rampage through the Capitol building, it likely saved his life. Several witnesses have said that they believe he was planning to climb through the window that he had just broken when Babbitt cut in front of him.

People are now speculating as to why she decided to climb up into the window in the first place. Two theories have emerged as the most likely: 1) To escape the crowd that had gotten increasingly chaotic since the police had begun leaving the area, or 2) She was trying to stand in the window to address the crowd in an attempt to calm the situation down, as a former police officer in the U.S. Air Force with 14 years of experience.

“To me if I was in that situation, I was looking back and I was like, ‘There’s a lot of people here. This is a volatile situation. This is a powder keg,’ ” Aaron Babbitt said about his wife’s situation in that moment. “‘I’ve been yelling at the police to do something and they just moved away and are letting these idiots do this,’ and that’s when she punches him, out of frustration and anger and fear.”

“I think she just realized she was in a bad spot, something wasn’t right. It didn’t smell right,” he added. “She had her wits about her. The frustration came out when she punched him in the face, because he deserved it. He deserved it from a man, not the little woman there in that small hallway.”

“He deserved it from a cop, but none of that was happening,” Babbitt continued. “For a former law enforcement person to be seeing this happening is like mass confusion, ‘What is going on here right now?’”

Aaron also mentioned that his wife was claustrophobic.

“Looking at the new footage, it’s clear the way she entered that area at first was now clogged with a large amount of people. She did not like large crowds,” he said. “We’ve left events in the past due to large packed crowds.”

Babbitt’s punch was not the first hit to the face that Zachary Alam experienced at the Capitol that day. Earlier, in the Rotunda, an older man slapped Alam on the right side of his head after Alam began loudly shouting, “Hey! Hey! Hey!”

Clearly, this man was an instigator in all of this. From the video, it’s possible to say that Babbitt would not have died if Alam had not been there, or if he had not been acting the way he did.

Regardless, the left’s narrative is crumbling every time more evidence comes out from that day.
