For some time now, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been facing backlash over her soft-on crime approach to justice not to mention his case against former President Donald Trump. And everyone already knows how much of a hypocrite he really is.

Well, now Bragg himself is facing a new lawsuit from Jose Alba, an ex-bodega worker charged with murder in self-defense, is suing Bragg and other officials for civil rights violations. He’s seeking justice and compensatory and punitive damages against the city.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton have publicly decried the initial charging decision of prosecuting Alba. They claim he acted in self-defense when a man attacked him behind the counter of a convenience store in July 2022.

Despite this evidence, it was still Alba who was arrested, incarcerated, and wrongfully prosecuted due to Alvin Bragg’s policy to achieve ‘racial equity’ in the Manhattan criminal justice system.

Bragg has been criticized by many for taking such a lenient stance on crime – especially crimes considered a “crime of poverty” such as theft or burglary – despite being elected on a platform that promised racial equity in criminal justice outcomes.

In May 2021 he told Young New Yorkers that his goal was to “shrink the footprint” of the criminal justice system by not prosecuting young people facing charges under 25 years old – even if it didn’t end up resulting in incarceration or diversion programs – because it doesn’t make us safer.

However, Bragg’s policies have gone awry after Jose Alba’s case brought national attention due to his wrongful prosecution based on race by following these so called “policies.”

The video evidence showing Simon attacking Alba first could not be ignored which resulted in public outrage towards Bragg and his office for arresting law abiding citizens defending themselves during times like this crime wave caused by mass resignations from police officers as well as legislation that makes it difficult for law enforcement to combat crime.
