In a very positive turn that could rekindle hopes of the Fox News channel getting back on track with the conservative, America-First base, it was announced on January 12th that Judge Jeanine Pirro will be joining ‘The Five’ as a full-time co-host. In the upcoming season, the “liberal seat” will be rotated through Harold Ford, Jr., Jessica Tarlov, and Geraldo Rivera (presumably to provide Pirro a target-rich environment).
Rivera’s recent explosive verbal altercations with conservative hosts Dan Bongino and Sean Hannity have earned him a lot of ridicule from Fox’s more conservative viewer base and the audience will likely enjoy watching the Judge use Rivera in particular as a rhetorical punching bag. According to Fox, Jesse Watters will continue with ‘The Five’ but will also be moving to prime time from his former weekend slot.
As a refresher, here’s what happened between Geraldo and Bongino in December,
“As Sean Hannity engaged in a very nuanced criticism of the Committee and specifically the actions of anti-Trump turncoat Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), taking issue with her release of his private text messages along with those of Donald Trump, Jr., Lauran Ingraham, and Brian Kilmeade from Jan. 6th (which were largely benign in nature, asking if President Trump would address the rioters in a statement which he later did.) Geraldo rather than addressing the rather nuanced question decided to take this opportunity (as he has many others) to regurgitate Cheney and Pelosi’s assertions that President Trump acted improperly, making a disingenuous appeal to emotion to Hannity which was finally enough to put Bongino over the edge.”
According to Fox News, “Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, and Jesse Watters will continue to occupy the other three seats when the changes debut on Jan. 24. Later that evening, Watters’ new program, Jesse Watters Primetime, will kick-off as the outspoken star will anchor Fox News’ 7 p.m. ET timeslot in addition to co-hosting The Five,” Judge Pirro will be stepping away from her weekend show “Justice with Judge Jeanine” to focus on her new role with ‘The Five’. Her show along with Watters’ original show “Watters’ World” will be replaced with new weekend programs to be announced at a later date.
Jeanine Pirro’s Rise To Prominence at Fox
Judge Pirro’s weekend show has typically performed well and she was well-received as a fill-in host with ‘The Five’, but the differentiator may have come in early January when she made headlines by slamming Joe Biden for making America far less safe than it was under President Trump.
In her now-viral rant, she said,
“You are no longer safe in America. Your government is not protecting you. The police cannot protect you. In short, you’re on your own. Something has radically changed in America. Crime is coming out of nowhere and is hitting like a thunderbolt. It can happen at a Christmas parade, in a high school, on a subway platform, to an Ivy League student walking near campus, or to an innocent mom taking your baby out in a stroller for a breath of fresh air on a sunny day, who after the robbery, abandons the stroller, grabs her baby and then runs away.
Any of these crimes could have involved you. The victims were totally innocent, the crimes totally unprovoked. But you don’t need to be on a subway platform or in Times Square. Small town America, Middle America is being hit with this very same crime wave. There was a time in America when motive could be gleaned from the nature of the crime. You rob a bank for money, you burgle a home for contents, you assault or kill another because of an argument, vendetta, gang membership, or any of the seven deadly sins. Today, crime is totally unprovoked.”
The Judge was on-point and her, brutal, rapid annihilation of Biden on a concise self-evident level appealed to millions.
