According to Syrian state media, the latest airstrikes from Israel have hit several military positions in Syria late Wednesday, November 8. Here’s what we know so far.

Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that the Israeli airstrikes caused material damage, but no casualties were mentioned nor the exact locations of where these strikes took place. Pro-government radio station Sham FM also reported hearing explosions in Sweida province and some suburbs near Damascus.

In addition, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strike in Sweida province targeted an air defense and radar unit with at least three strikes in Damascus suburbs which wounded three people without giving further details.

Israel has vowed to stop Iranian entrenchment next door and has been conducting hundreds of strikes on targets located in government-controlled parts of neighboring Syria over the past few years, however they rarely acknowledge them publicly.

As of now, there is still no immediate comment from Israel about the alleged airstrikes yet.

The implications of these airstrikes remain unclear as it is still uncertain what was behind their intentions and what are their possible consequences for Syria or any other Middle Eastern countries involved.

It will be interesting to see if this could potentially lead to a new conflict between Israel and Syria or other Arab nations given their history with each other.

This is a developing story.
