As the debate over immigration policies continues to touch a nerve across the country, one US Army veteran has decided to exercise his constitutional right to freedom of speech.

Troy Maxham, a resident of Roxbury, Vermont who proudly served the country and fought for its freedoms, protested against the ideology of Islam by placing a homemade sign outside his house in early March that declared it as a “Muslim Free Zone”.

Although there had been no signs of any prior Muslim visitors inside his home, Maxham wanted to make it clear that they weren’t welcome.

Unfortunately, some people in the community didn’t appreciate Maxham’s sign and made their opinions known via letters sent to local newspapers.

Authorities attempted to take action but were limited due to free speech being protected under the First Amendment.

In response, someone even went as far as trespassing onto Maxham’s property and stealing his sign.

Not wanting to be deterred from expressing himself freely, Troy Maxham took matters into his own hands by replacing the stolen sign with another one – this time fastened with plumbers tape and screws – which declared “Still A Muslim Free Zone”.

This shows how firmly he stands behind exercising his rights as an American citizen while making sure he is heard loud and clear on this issue.

Troy Maxham serves as proof that individuals can use their freedom of speech in order to express themselves without fear or persecution despite what others may think or say about them or their beliefs.
