Donald Trump thought he had a great way to take out Ron DeSantis, but it fell flat.
Trump’s camp was trying to get DeSantis hit with an ethics violation, but the complaint went into the shredder.
As far as the Florida ethics board is concerned, Ron DeSantis is on the up and up.
Shadow Campaign
I believe Trump has legitimate gripe here.
Ron DeSantis has been traveling all over the world and country to raise his profile.
Yet, he still has not declared.
Make America Great Again Inc., which is Trump’s biggest PAC, filed the complaint.
MAGA Inc. claimed that Ron DeSantis was “leveraging his elected office and breaching his associated duties in a coordinated effort to develop his national profile, enrich himself and his political allies, and influence the national electorate.”
The board disagreed, responding, “The complaint fails to indicate … that [DeSantis] solicited or accepted anything with an understanding that it would influence an official decision associated with his public office.”
MAGA Inc. officials were not happy with the decision, but I don’t see how this would have been ruled any other way.
Florida loves DeSantis right now, and surely the ethics board is not going to be the one to derail his campaign when every governor that has ever run has done the same thing DeSantis is doing now before they announced.
