A small plane carrying workers to Oakwood Village plant crashed not long after its takeoff from an Arkansas airport on today, February 22.

These employees were affiliated with the environmental consulting firm CTEH, who were attempting to respond to the deadly explosion at a metal processing facility in Oakwood Village just this Monday, February 20.

According to officials, at around 12:00 p.m. today the plane took off from the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport located in Little Rock with plans to land at John Glenn Columbus International Airport.

Lt. Cody Burk of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office shared with reporters that the crash took place within one mile of the airport, although at this time it is unclear what caused the crash.

Burk told news outlets, “Right now, there are no survivors that we can find.”

CTEH’s website stated that the firm provides emergency response in industrial based settings as well as expertise on toxicology and how to maintain workplace safety.

The website also says that, “In addition to our in-house team of experts, CTEH also owns a Beechcraft King Air B200 located in Little Rock, Arkansas for immediate use. We employ a professional pilot with thousands of flight hours. This enables our technical experts to reach remote locations that otherwise would prove difficult.”

Dr. Paul Nony, CTEH Senior Vice President, released a statement regarding the crash:

“We are incredibly saddened to report the loss of our Little Rock colleagues. We ask everyone to keep the families of those lost and the entire CTEH team in their thoughts and prayers.”

The explosion on February 20 is still being investigated by the State Fire Marshal at this time.
