A couple of students at Trinity College had a rather interesting week.
While returning to their dorm rooms, they found someone from the school tearing down their flags.
When they asked why, they were told the flags made some people uncomfortable.
Take Them Down
The two boys, Finn McCole and Lucas Turco, did what many college students do… they hung flags outside their windows.
They returned to their room and found someone tearing their flags down while other flags, including a pride flag and a transgender flag, were allowed to remain.
The woman from the school said they had been warned, but the boys claimed no such warning was ever given to them.
Not only that but if their flags had to go, why were the others allowed to remain?
Here is the exchange…
Over and above how the school handled this, how about the disrespect of the flag by this school staffer?
When Fox News contacted Trinity College for context, the school responded, “The Trinity College Student Handbook states that objects are not allowed to be placed outside of residence hall windows for safety reasons.”
The handbook states, “No objects of any type (including liquid), may be thrown, dropped, pushed out of, placed outside of, or allowed to fall from any residential building window.
“Students found responsible for such actions will face residential censure,” according to a school spokesperson.
“This event has highlighted the need for more consistent enforcement of handbook rules, and the college is working with the student body to create awareness and compliance.
“The dean of student life is addressing the issue with the entire student body to ensure compliance with the handbook and has reiterated the rule to the student body in a communication this week.
“The dean’s office will directly work with students for more consistent enforcement.”
Something tells me if those flags were not a thin line and Gadsden flag, this would never have been a problem.
