New York Governor Hochul is watching her massive lead dwindle down to just a few points.
Can Lee Zeldin win?
I am not ready to make that prediction, but Hochul is not taking any chances.
Bury It
Reports broke this week that Hochul has more than 400 pieces of legislation sitting on her desk for her signature.
Hochul is reportedly cherry-picking legislation to sign and put into law that will not upset her donors before the election.
John Kaehny, director of the watchdog group Reinvent Albany, stated, “The governor has made a strategic decision not to sign or call up lots and lots of bills until after the election.
“It’s enormously frustrating.”
Among the top pieces of legislation that Hochul is refusing to pass address medical fields, banking, real estate, and cryptocurrency mining.
These are all fields that are heavily invested in Hochul.
The “Foreclosure Abuse Prevention Act” is still on her desk, and she is facing enormous pressure to sign it.
Sen. James Sanders Jr. stated, “Homeowners who are in foreclosure will be the biggest winners when this significant foreclosure bill becomes law.
“This legislation will go a long way in helping homeowners save their homes from foreclosure by leveling the playing field and eliminating certain abuses lenders have used in Courts to the detriment of the homeowners.”
The bill passed the state House 107-40 in March and the Senate 52-10 in May.
So why has it not been signed when it has clear bipartisan support?
Could it be because Hochul is acting in her campaign’s interest rather than the state’s voters?
