Merrick Garland’s effort to turn the DOJ into Joe Biden’s hit squad to punish Trump supporters has failed again.
People should pay close attention to this case because it shows just how far Garland will go to carry out his task.
The Justice Department’s case against casino mogul Steve Wynn has been dismissed.
Not Happening
The DOJ had sued Wynn in May under the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
Officials believed that Wynn had lobbied then-President Trump on behalf of the Chinese government.
China wanted an asylum seeker denied and returned to China for corruption charges.
US District Judge James Boasberg denied the case on the basis that when the alleged lobbying took place, Wynn no longer had a relationship with the Chinese.
There was no determination if the lobbying efforts took place, but Wynn’s attorneys have repeatedly denied that Wynn was ever working on behalf of the Chinese.
After the case was dismissed, they stated, “This is a claim that should never have been filed, and the court agreed.”
It remains unclear if the DOJ continues to pursue Wynn on this front.
When calls were made to the DOJ for comment, they were not returned.
