Beto, you are going backward again.

That is the message from the most recent Dallas Morning News poll.

Governor Abbott has stretched his lead to nine points in Texas, giving him plenty of cushion just weeks away from the election.

Go Home Beto

O’Rourke did manage to put some heat on Abbott early in the race, getting as close as four or five points in some races.

Beto, however, started to take a hit after an infection knocked him off the campaign trail for a few days.

In the last poll, Beto had slipped to seven points back.

With Abbott gaining more attention for busing migrants to Democrat sanctuary cities, he is getting even more separation.

The poll now has Abbott ahead 47 to 38.

There are two reasons this is happening.

First, as mentioned above, people like what Abbott is doing on the immigration front, with a 52 percent approval rating.

Poll Director Mark Owens explains the second point.

Owens explained, “A clear change in the election is that the Abbott campaign started advertising and they went negative, while being the only campaign on the air.

“Registered voters who say they saw the advertisements supported Gov. Abbott 23% more often.”

Beto has plenty of money to fight back, but we also know that most of his money is coming from outside the state.

Honestly, this campaign would already be over if it were not for that outside money.
