The GOP lost one of its own in a horrifying car accident this week.
Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) was killed in a head-on collision.
Sadly, she was one of four people that died in this crash.
Horrible Death
The congresswoman was in a car with two staffers, communications director Emma Thomson, 28, and district director Zachary Potts, 27, at the time of the accident.
Potts was reportedly driving at the time.
Police reports stated that Walorski’s car inexplicably crossed over the divider line, then hit a vehicle driven by Edith Schmucker, 56.
All four people were killed.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office explained, “The information from the preliminary investigation at the scene, as to the direction of travel of the vehicles, was not correct.
“The continuing investigation has located eyewitness and video evidence.
“The Toyota RAV 4 crossed the centerline for reasons that are unknown at this time and the two vehicles collided.
“The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to interview witnesses and collect evidence from the scene and vehicles.”
Unless something medically happened with Potts, the only reasonable explanation would be that he was involved in a conversation and possibly turned to talk and did not realize he had drifted into the wrong lane.
That is complete speculation on my part, but it is unlikely we will ever know what caused him to cross over into oncoming traffic.
