A 66 year old abused wife finally snapped, killing her husband. When police arrived, she told them that she “should have stabbed him a bit more” as they rushed to save the man bleeding to death on the kitchen floor.
Penelope Jackson, 66, stabbed her husband David, a retired lieutenant colonel, three times in their home in Somerset, England, then calmly asked the officers if she could go back into the home to get her coat.
After being stabbed, David called emergency services, but the phone was quickly snatched away by his wife.
Jackson took the phone to inform the police that her 78 year old husband was “in the kitchen bleeding to death with any luck.”
Despite the pleas of the operator, the 66 year old woman refused to give her husband and medical assistance, stating: “I killed my husband because I’ve had enough. I might go and stab him again. I am in the lounge, he is in the kitchen bleeding to death with any luck. He threatened me before, but he’s not threatening me now.”
“I know this is being recorded. I am compos mentis, but I have had enough of the abuse and the nastiness. I am not doing anything to help him,” she continued.
“He deserves everything he has got – I accept everything that is coming my way. I might just go and do it again. I did it the once and then he said ‘I wouldn’t do it again’ so I did it twice more,” Penelope added, telling the operator that she thought she had stabbed him in the heart, but “he doesn’t have one.”
When paramedics began to rush into the house to begin CPR, Penelope said: “Oh don’t! No no no, please don’t. I should have stabbed him a bit more.”
The 66 year old woman insisted that she had no remorse for killing her husband, who she had been married to since April of 1996, because she was trapped and needed a way out of an “abusive relationship.”
While arresting her, officers advised Penelope to be quiet until she spoke to a lawyer.
“There’s nothing. I did it. Why I did it is a different issue, but I did it,” she responded.
“Remorse is easy, it’s been a long time coming – I did it, I’m guilty. If I was given the chance, I’d do it again, even if they locked me up for 125 million years it would still be worth it,” Penelope added. “I should have walked away years ago but you don’t, I deserve everything that is coming my way because you shouldn’t do what I did. Sometimes you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
Paramedics were unable to save David, and he passed away as a result of his stab wounds.
