A man who decided to get a little cute with Governor DeSantis just got the ax.
Axios reporter Ben Montgomery is without employment for firing off a smarta$$ reply to a Ron DeSantis press release.
While Axios did not coming on his termination, the reason seems pretty clear.
Gone
Axios reporters are required to be respectful in performing their duties.
That was the last word I would use to describe how Montgomery acted to a DeSantis press release.
There was a press release sent out by Florida Department of Education communications director Alex Lanfranconi to discuss “divisive concepts such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, Critical Race Theory (CRT) and the impact that these concepts have had on Florida higher education institutions and the students that attend them.”
Montgomery replied that it was “propaganda.”
This response was posted on Twitter…
This afternoon, Tampa based @axios journalist @gangrey decided to respond to our press release with the below. pic.twitter.com/XkL5nBwZSs

Montgomery was fired soon after.
He was not repentant, however, stating that “It just wasted my time.”
He was also at peace with his decision because his teenager daughters loved his response, stating, “That’s really all that matters.”
Perhaps that is the problem with today’s media… they are acting as though they are teenagers instead of adults.
