The riots that took place at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 have been a source of huge controversy in America. As more information about what happened emerges, it is becoming increasingly clear that the police response to these events was excessive and unacceptable.
Newly released surveillance footage shows peaceful protesters being attacked by Capitol Police officers and undercover law enforcement agents encouraging people to enter the building.
Independent reporter Julie Kelly recently released surveillance footage showing dozens of protesters peacefully gathering around the Capitol Rotunda when a group of approximately 20 police officers began pushing and punching them without provocation.
A few minutes later, a separate group of DC cops storm into the area, shoving and knocking down individuals. Officers drag one man off.

Another group of Capitol Police entered shortly afterwards and some protesters were knocked down while one man was dragged out. The rotunda had been evacuated roughly 40 minutes before these incidents occurred, leaving many people confused as to why such extreme force had been used against unarmed citizens who weren’t posing any threat.
Afterwards, ATF and FBI swat units armed with rifles entered the rotunda in an attempt to subdue anyone still gathered there — even though they were peacefully assembled in a government building during daylight hours with no lawmakers or staff present.
It’s also worth noting that bodycam footage has since confirmed members of Congress’ suspicions about undercover law enforcement agents encouraging protesters to climb barricades and enter the Capitol Building prior to these events taking place.
D.C Metropolitan Police (MPD) officers were also present outside the building on January 6th where they fired tear gas into crowds of Trump supporters who simply stood their ground despite orders from police to disperse from the area — something which became much clearer after bodycam footage revealed an MPD officer shouting for “blast munitions” before launching them into peaceful crowds below him on construction scaffolding.
After receiving these munitions he proceeded to urge other protesters forward towards the entrance with cries of “go, go, go!”
This latest evidence heightens public awareness regarding exactly how little regard authorities give towards protecting our rights under certain circumstances ; if we don’t take action soon then such occurrences could become commonplace in years ahead rather than isolated incidents.
