To this point, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) has been the frontrunner if Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) seat is vacated before her term is over.
Newsom has a good relationship with Lee and he has promised to put a black woman in that seat.
However, a new name has popped up and you are not going to believe it.

When Oprah was campaigning for Stacey Abrams, there was a lot of talk about her possibly running.
Oprah put that to rest, saying she had no desire to get into the political world.
She stated, “I am not here because I am making some grandstand, because I’m thinking about running myself.
“I don’t want to run.
“I am not trying to test any waters, don’t want to go in those waters.”
Now her name is getting floated by Newsom insiders to test the waters to see if Oprah will take the bait and throw her name into the hat.
If Oprah were interested, it would be game over for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who is running for that seat with the support of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Schiff is going to have a hard enough time beating Lee, but Oprah… well, he has no shot.
