Well, how about that.
Vladimir Putin has announced that he wants to come to a diplomatic solution and end the war with Ukraine.
Not only that, but he broke his own law and actually called it a war.
Up until now, Putin has only called it a “special military operation.”
Time to End It
The timing of this announcement was very interesting.
Putin spoke with the media only a day after Zelensky was treated like a rock star in DC.
Putin stated, “Our goal is not to spin the flywheel of military conflict, but, on the contrary, to end this war. We will strive for an end to this, and the sooner the better, of course.”
As fate would have it, an opposition member is now trying to bring charges against Putin for violating the law he signed into effect that forbid anyone from calling the conflict with Ukraine a war.
Nikita Yuferev, an opposition councilor from St. Petersburg, stated, “It’s important for me to do this to draw attention to the contradiction and the injustice of these laws that he [Putin] adopts and signs but which he himself doesn’t observe.
“I think the more we talk about this, the more people will doubt his honesty, his infallibility, and the less support he will have.”
Ukraine has already responded that Putin is lying and has no interest in coming to the table.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby backed that up.
When asked about Russia being willing to negotiate, he stated, “Quite the contrary.
“Everything (Putin) is doing on the ground and in the air bespeaks a man who wants to continue to visit violence upon the Ukrainian people” and “escalate the war.”
I say who cares… he is on record now as saying he wants to sit down, so get these knuckleheads together and see if we can get some peace.
