For weeks, Iranian-backed militia groups have been bombing bases holding American troops.
As far as we know, no deaths have been reported, but there have been some very serious brain injuries caused by these bombings.
For the most part, those attacks have gone unanswered, and now the Pentagon is brushing them off as no big deal.
Not Very Effective
If you guys read my reports, you know I am not a fan of spokesman John Kirby.
Kirby is a retired Navy Rear Admiral who earned his star by giving press conferences.
Yet, he downplays the attacks against the brave men and women who are truly in harm’s way.
These bases holding American and coalition troops have been bombed dozens of times, and the Iranian-backed Houthis just shot down a $30 million drone.
Our response was to bomb a supply depot, then the Iranian-backed groups hit us again.
Kirby stated, “It is not uncommon after we take a retaliatory strike for there to be some sort of secondary set of strikes by these proxy groups. We haven’t seen them be very effective.”
He continued, “That doesn’t mean we’re taking it lightly or we’re undermining it at all.
“Obviously, we’ll continue to do what we have to do to protect our troops in Iraq and Syria.
“You heard the president talk about that today. Look, these proxy groups and the IRGC, the Revolutionary Guard Corps that supports them, resources them, trains them, funds them, gives them these capabilities, they have a choice to make.
“We’ve shown that we will do what we have to do to protect our troops in Iraq and Syria.
“We’ll continue to do that. If they want yet more responses from the American…military, then they’ll have to deal with the consequences for that, if they’re going to keep striking.”
I have seen several military experts say that the strikes the United States is conducting are inconsequential because we are not really hitting anything of worth or even putting these terrorist groups in danger.
In other words, Biden’s strikes are nothing more than window dressing.
That aside, it is infuriating to hear Kirby insinuate that these strikes have not been very effective when we have troops suffering brain injuries that could impact them for the rest of their lives.
