The word “legend” is probably the most overused term in sports.
Realistically, there are only a handful of athletes in any given sport that are true legends of the game.
One of them, Pelé, has sadly passed away.
A True Legend of the Game
Pelé’s cause of death has not been announced, but he had been sick for some time.
He did recently send out a congratulatory message for the World Cup win by Argentina.
Some took that as a sign that he was doing better.
His daughter, Kely Nascimento, however, announced that he was actually in the hospital and receiving “elevated care” related to his “kidney and cardiac dysfunctions.”
She posted, “We decided with doctors that, for many reasons, it will be best for us to stay here, with all the care that this new family at [Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo] gives us.
“We love you and we will give up an update next week.”
Brazil legend Pelé has died at the age of 82.
