House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) just dropped a bombshell on Democrats.
Senator Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) is one again wrapped up in bribery and fraud charges.
Now McCarthy is calling for him to step down.
Time to Resign
This is now the second time that Menendez has been hit with an indictment.
He beat the charges for the first time, and it baffled many legal experts how they could find him innocent.
In fact, Menendez even won an election campaign while the case for corruption charges was playing out.
This time, the case seems even tighter, but you are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
McCarthy does not see it that way, calling for Menendez to step down now, and he is not alone.
McCarthy stated, “From what I read it’s very damaging.
“I mean, to have gold bars with the ID number that was from the developer, cash with the fingerprints of the driver, you’re wrapping it up in your clothes — most people put money in the bank.
“Googling how much a gold bar is worth — was that trying to figure out how much he gave him?”
When asked if Menendez should resign his seat, McCarthy responded, “Yeah,” adding, “In that case, it seemed pretty black or white.”
New Jersey Democrat Governor Phil Murphy and Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) have also called for him to step down amid the allegations.
It is worth noting that Abbe Lowell, who represented Menendez in his previous case as well as representing Hunter Biden in his case, is back representing Menendez for his trial.
